Validity and Licensing Period:

Dog Licensing begins on June 2, 2025, providing an active dog license for the period of July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026. Dogs aged six months or older must be licensed before July 1st each year. Additionally, dogs moving into town or adopted between July 1 and June 30 of the following year must also be licensed. 

All Dog Licenses obtained between June 2024 and May 2025 will expire on June 30, 2025. Dog owners boarding after July 1, 2025, will need a valid Dog License tag and certificate for the FY 2025-2026 Dog License period.  

Licensing Fees

Dogs not registered by June 30th are subject to a penalty of $1 per month late fee, in addition to any fees incurred by the Animal Control Officer for unlicensed dogs.

Fees are as follows:

New Registrations (In-Person or by Mail)

All new Dog License Registrations require the following documents: 

• Completed 2025 Dog License Application (one form per household/owner) 

• Copy of current Rabies Certificate (Rabies vaccination must be valid thru July 1, 2025) 
• Copy of Spay or Neuter Certificate (if applicable). Acceptable proof of spaying or neutering includes: A sterilization certificate, a veterinarian’s report, or vet records.  
• Payments with a Check, Money Order, or Cash. Please bring exact change when paying with cash, as we may have limited funds for making change. Check & Money Orders payable to the Town of Granby for the fee of $8.00 or $19.00 based on spay/neuter status. If you register after June 30, 2025, include a $1.00 late fee for each month and per dog. FOR YOUR PROTECTION, PLEASE DO NOT SEND CASH PAYMENT IN THE MAIL. 
• If registering by mail, include a Self-Addressed, postage-stamped envelope (SASE) for the dog tags and dog license certificate to be returned to you. If you are registering multiple dogs, please include extra postage.  

Renewals (In-Person or by Mail)

If renewing in person or by mail, please ensure to have the proper documentation:  

• Completed 2025 Dog License Application (one form per household/owner) 

• A copy of the current Rabies Certificate (If the rabies date on file has expired or expires before July 1, 2025) 
• Licensing Fees of $8.00 or $19.00 based on spay/neuter status. If you renew after June 30, 2025, include a $1.00 late fee for each month and per dog.  
• Checks, Money Orders, and Cash are accepted. Checks and Money Orders are payable to the Town of Granby. If paying in person by cash, please bring exact change, as we may have limited funds for making change. FOR YOUR PROTECTION, PLEASE DO NOT SEND CASH PAYMENT IN THE MAIL.
