Establishment
The Granby Police Department was established in 1959.
Responsibilities
The Police Department is responsible for the preservation of the public peace, the prevention of crime, and the apprehension of criminal violators. The Department serves to regulate traffic, investigate motor vehicle collisions and enforce the laws of the State of Connecticut and the municipal ordinances of the Town of Granby.

The Police Department is nationally accredited through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).

Animal Control
The Granby Police Department has the responsibility of insuring that the needs of domestic animals are protected against cruelty and abuse. Towards that end, the Department contracts for the services of a part-time Municipal Animal Control Officer.

Bazaars, Bingo & Raffles
The Town of Granby Chief of Police will be responsible for the permitting and enforcement of all bingo games, bazaars, and raffles taking place in the Town of Granby.
