Developer Has Canceled Plans for Battery Energy Storage Facility in Granby:
Key Capture Energy, LLC (Key Capture) has notified the Connecticut Siting Council that it has surrendered its approval to construct a Battery Energy Storage System at 100 Salmon Brook Street in Granby. In its notification, Key Capture confirmed that it will no longer pursue the project.
The Board of Selectmen would like to thank everyone involved in helping to achieve this result. The Board would especially like to thank: Town Manager Mike Walsh, our attorneys David Sherwood, Robert DeCrescenzo and Jesse Langer; our subject matter experts Kate Bednaz, John Oates and Mark Gottlieb; and the many citizens who provided testimony, information and support.
The abandonment of the project is a testament to our ability to work together as a community. Our collective efforts have gone a long way towards protecting our environment, our water supply and the safety of our first responders, citizens and businesses.
Great work, Granby.
