On Monday, September 16, 2024, at the Board of Selectmen Regular Meeting, the Selectmen presented the Oates Family with a Proclamation thanking them for the generous donation of six Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to the Town of Granby. John and Linda Oates made this donation in memory of James and Nancy Oates, honoring their love and commitment to the Town of Granby. The Town is thankful for the generous donation, and installed eight total AEDs at numerous indoor and outdoor locations throughout town.
These heated and secured outdoor AED cabinets are located at Ahrens Park, Salmon Brook Park at the Pond House, Holcomb Farm, and the Granby Memorial High School Dennis Lobo Track. A fifth AED is at Salmon Brook Park at the Rovers Soccer Fields, and indoor AED cabinets have been added to the Granby Public Library’s main branch, the Town Hall, and the Department of Public Works facility. The new AEDs, finalized in March, are strategically positioned to serve as a crucial resource for cardiac emergencies.
