The State of Connecticut continues to experience extremely high fire danger, and so ALL open burning is strictly prohibited in Granby at this time - EVEN IF you previously applied for or have had an Open Burning Permit through the Fire Marshal's Office for your activities. This burn ban includes leaf burning, the use of fire pits, fireworks, fireplace ashes, and outdoor grilling. Please exercise extreme caution, especially when disposing of smoking materials outdoors.
Open Burning Permits will not be issued until the fire danger risk is reduced to Medium or Low risk conditions. Please note that as of 11/12, the forest fire danger report remains at an EXTREME level. To check the Daily Forest Fire Danger Report, please click here.
An emergency burn ban is also in effect for ALL Connecticut State Parks, Forests, and Wildlife Management areas, prohibiting the use of all outdoor grills, fire pits and campfires, kindling and use of flame while outdoors. CT DEEP and local agencies are currently working to contain several active fires across the state.
Let’s all work together during this critical time!
