Emergency Management

Responsibilities

The Office of Emergency Management maintains the Town's Emergency Operations Plan, engages in community preparedness, and coordinates response to local and regional emergencies which may be declared by the Federal, State or Local Community Government. Emergency Management assists with the development and execution of interagency exercises and continuously works to improve Granby's capability to respond to disasters such as hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, and major storms.

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

The Granby Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) falls under the Emergency Management function. They are a dedicated team of volunteers who train regularly and provide assistance at emergencies and community events. The main mission of the team is to assist with the operation of an emergency shelter, special event support, and search and rescue. The CERT team meets monthly and can be activated by the Emergency Management Director for other needs and emergency support of the Town. The Granby CERT provides free training and is actively recruiting new members.
